ATV Injuries Higher Among Children

We have been discussing the tragic death of Maya Getz, 14, who suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and died as a result of an ATV accident in Warren County this week. Getz was with three other teens when their Polaris Ranger was struck head-on by a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Independence Road. The three other girls involved in the crash, Abrigail George, Kelsey Cochran, and Baylee Biancofiori, were hospitalized following the accident with various injuries. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is investigating the accident and charges have not been filed against the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Investigators say that the teens in the ATV were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. According to a 2010 WebMD article written by Bill Hendrick, ATV accidents are known to cause catastrophic injuries, especially among children. Use Caution While Operating an ATV

On Monday, we discussed an ATV accident that occurred earlier this month in Warren County that killed one teen and injured three others. Maya Getz, 14, suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and died as a result of an accident that occurred on Independence Road, when a Jeep Grand Cherokee struck the Polaris Ranger that Getz was in head-on. Three other teens in the ATV, Abrigail George, Kelsey Cochran and Baylee Biancofiori were also hospitalized following the crash. Bulington, who has not been charged in connection to the accident, was not injured. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has confirmed that the girls were not wearing helmets. One Teen Dead, Three Others Injured in ATV Accident

Four Harrison High School students were injured in an ATV crash in Warren County earlier this month, with one dying after she sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI). According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 14-year-old Maya Getz died following an ATV accident on Independence Road. DNR officials investigating the accident said that the ATV was carrying four teens traveling north on Independence Road when it was struck head-on by a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Robert Bulington, 34. The teens were reportedly driving a Polaris Ranger, a four-wheeled vehicle that contains very little paneling. Burlington was not injured and has not been charged in connection with the accident. The other girls involved in the accident, Abrigail George, Baylee Biancofiori and Kelsey Cochran were transported to hospitals following the crash.
